My take on this classic British pedal, but with added dirt. We all know about the Rangemaster right?

Classic rock and British blues tone, think Eric Claptons Beano tone, think Jimmy Page, think Rory Gallagher. The 108Master has a huge dose of gritty boost on tap, as you increase the boost so does the grit, and a range dial to add in some low mids if you want to fatten thing up. There's also a bright switch with will just take the presence down if the boost becomes too spiky for your rig but will maintain the grittyness. This pedal takes no prisoners there's nothing gentle about the 108Master is a full on rock beast, just read the reviews from other owners.

This is NOT a clean boost at all, but will still need a slightly gainy amp just on breakup or an overdrive stacked with it for the full effect. They actually sound a bit lifeless into a clean amp and it is still a wonder to me how that translates once it is coupled with something more pushed. A cooking tube amp or a Klon or a Blues Breaker type pedal set low gain, and goose it hard with the 108 Master for some seriously cool sounds. Your tone will leap out and picking dynamics become so much more prominent and articulate. The range dial can add back some low mids to fill out the sound and this will also add a touch more gain, add to taste, I prefer it dialed right back for lovely open and expressive tones.

A much misunderstood pedal that should be an essential part of any guitarists toolkit. Until you've tried one its hard to describe the importance of this pedal. I was late to that party and now can't live without it.

I build these pedals in my garden workshop in Northamptonshire UK. That includes etching and drilling the enclosures, constructing the entire circuit 'Point to Point' only linking the components using only there leads, no boards or traces to dilute your signal. I finish the entire pedal to a standard I think looks as good inside, as it sounds on the outside. It might be covered up but when you're in that moment you KNOW the mojo you have under the hood.

Please be aware, these are totally hand built, so there might me some slight cosmetic variation between each pedal. The gun metal finish is an oxidation process and will vary slightly in shade, and sometimes shows a pleasing uneven patina due the enclosures casting process. Your pedal will age gracefully, as parts of the case wear-polish, usually around the front corners.

Please note, all my silicon pedals have a boss style 2.1 center negative DC jack only, there is no battery snap.

Fuzzy Treble Boosty Goodness!

Love, love, love the Range knob. It takes you from woofy, wooly goodness to bright edgy goodness. The bright switch takes you even further(without getting ice pickey on your eras!!) So many great tones with the range knob and bright switch.

I’m using this as a boost in front of a Cornerstone Gladio and it makes a great pedal sound even more impressive. Serious secret sauce stuff here!

This pedal is spectacular and though it certainly isn't a clean boost, it is an amazing "more" pedal when it's run into an amp that's already breaking up. The tone is thick, but also cutting, unlike some fuzzes which disappear into a mix or band context.

The pedal is enormously touch sensitive so you can roll back the guitar volume and everything cleans up. It also responds well to adjustments on the tone control. My main guitar is a Junior so having that responsiveness is very important to me, and this has it in abundance. This pedal makes you want to play more and puts a tremendous smile on your face.

It goes without saying that the build quality and design of every aspect of the pedal is immaculate. I also really appreciated the packaging that the pedal arrived in, and the accompanying paper work that explained everything you need to know to get the best out of the pedal. I'm a very happy customer.

Prior to receiving my precious #28 my exposure to the land of treble boosting was a very solid choice indeed: an RCA transistor Beano Boost. It has all that good rangemaster stuff going on and sounds killer into a driven amp to make leads sear anyone in front of the speakers. As good as it sounds it works just like a rangemaster: don't use it with a clean amp or if you do put it on full frequency mode (or sometimes mid boost).

The 108Master has all those same sounds and much more. The range control and bright switch allow so much more flexibility and are perfectly tuned so that harmonics jump out at any setting! You've now got a rangemaster/treble boost but an infinitely tunable amount of girth (or not), a mild frequency boost up through a full on ripping drive pedal and the bright switch gives you two options of sting.

With a clean amp (low power tweed twin) and it's already blown away so many others - throw away your 4558 drives and just get a 108Master! Craftsmanship I don't need to comment on, look at it. This unit is the whole package.

OK I gotta get back to playing it...
